Beethoven's 5 piano concertos

First all-Australian recording

The first all-Australian recording of Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas and 5 piano concertos is a multi-award winning package. The 9 CD set of the sonatas won 2 ARIA awards in the Best Classical Music category (1999 and 2000), the 3 CD set of the concertos was nominated for an ARIA (2004), and the Emperor DVD, a world first, won the international DVD Association's Award for Music Excellence in 2005.

Acclaimed internationally

The recordings have been internationally acclaimed. They are released on Australia's premier classical music label, ABC Classics, and feature Australia's leading Beethoven interpreter, Gerard Willems playing the revolutionary, Australian-designed Stuart Piano. One American music critic wrote: "Listening to the sound of this beautifully recorded instrument gives me goose flesh. I still have love of the Steinway sound, but the Stuart & Sons piano has opened up new vistas of delight and gratitude. I cannot imagine a more perfect instrument for playing Beethoven. Embarrassingly real, is what one listener commented on the sound of the piano used in these recordings."
